Be Ready for Search That’s Becoming Answers.
Build on sound SEO with clear business information, useful answers, and evidence people can trust. Make your business easier for search and AI systems to understand.
← Back to MarketingSearch is changing. SEO still matters.
AI answers can introduce, compare, or explain businesses before someone visits a website. AEO, or answer engine optimization, is a name for work on that visibility problem. It extends the problem; it does not abolish SEO.
Search is changing. Good SEO is becoming the foundation for a broader world of answer visibility. Start with useful information that customers can understand and search systems can access.
- Strong foundations
- Check that search engines can reach and index important pages, visitors can find them through clear links, and public business details agree. Review relevant Search Console settings and Google Business Profile information.
- Useful answers and evidence
- Cover real customer questions with service facts, process explanations, examples, policies, and proof. Use structured information where appropriate and consistent with visible content.
- Realistic expectations
- A special AI website, special AI markup, or hundreds of generated pages are not the answer. No review can guarantee a recommendation from ChatGPT or another answer engine.
Google’s guidance on generative search explains how search fundamentals apply.
Find what customers need to know that your site does not yet explain.
The software diagnostic is in development. A human review of agreed pages and customer questions is available by request. Its intended output is a prioritized question-to-page list: the missing answer, the evidence needed, and where to publish or improve it.
Identify what the business knows
Gather service details, methods, policies, technical expertise, and reasons behind common decisions.
Identify what customers ask
Use recurring FAQs, objections, sales questions, and approved notes from customer conversations.
Inspect the public explanation
Compare the website, listings, and other public information with those questions and facts.
Find what is missing or weak
Identify absent answers, unclear claims, contradictory details, and unsupported promises.
Prioritize useful knowledge
Choose which pages or resources to improve, with an owner and evidence for each answer.
Review discovery and usefulness
Check accuracy, access, and available search reporting. Keep improving what helps customers.
Stock it with what customers repeatedly need to know.
Useful knowledge might be a service boundary, a comparison, pricing logic, or an answer your team gives every week. The gap is often between what the business knows and what a customer can actually find.
Keep private customer details and internal records private. Review permissions and accuracy before turning internal material into public explanations.
Use Search Console’s generative AI reports where available, alongside customer-source information and useful website actions. Visibility is a signal, not proof of a sale.
Google explains the available reporting and its measures. Use it to inform decisions without promising perfect attribution.
